A Father, A Teacher, A Coach

President Bush said that he believes in Speaker Dennis Hastert because he is a father, a teacher and a coach and has only the best interests of children at heart. Let's explore those three things and see where they have led others:

A Teacher, A Coach

This is Edward Myer. He has been profiled on Oprah and has been caught by the FBI as a result of a viewer. This man was a teacher. He taught at a private boys military academy and was the activities director and this is where he systematically molested boys in his care.

Myer was caught in Costa Rica where he was again working as a teacher. This fugitive molester is now in jail and will not harm any more children.

A teacher. So he must certainly have had the best interests of children at heart. Right?

A Father

This is David Sprong. He has also been profiled on Oprah as part of her Child Predator Watch. He is a father who currently is on the run with his girlfriend, their nine-year-old daughter and two dogs.

This man is wanted on multiple charges of molestation. He is dangerous. He is also a father. So, he too must certainly have had the best interests of children at heart. Right?

WRONG! Being a father, mother, teacher, coach, congressman, senator, lawyer or doctor does not necessarily mean there is an overwhelming concern for children. Look at the many teachers who have gone to prison, even here in our own area, for molesting children.

Bush made a very big mistake in making this statement. All of his cronies are so self-absorbed and feel that they are above the rules the rest of us live by. Hastert should resign. So should anyone, Republican or Democrat alike, who knew of the emails from Mark Foley to minors in his care.
