Remembering A President

President Gerald R. Ford
July 14, 1913 - December 26, 2006

President Ford was the only President in our history NOT to be elected to the office. He became, first, Vice President after Spiro Agnew resigned and then President after Richard Nixon was forced to resign in the wake of the Watergate scandal. He is remembered as the great healer of the nation.

President Ford only served this country as President for 29 months. His presidency was not the shortest though, that distinction is held by William Henry Harrison, who died only 30 days after his inauguration.

President Ford will likely lay in state in the Capitol Rotunda sometime in the next week.
