It Shouldn't Be This Way

Today a friend of my son, Brenham, had a seizure at school.

This is Cody Heilmann. This picture was taken back in 2006, he is now 16 years old. He just got his driver's license and his first car. He is an honor student. He is alway smiling. He is a good kid.

This morning in first period he had a seizure. He was taken to the hospital here in town where they did a CAT scan finding an aneurysm in his brain.

Since we do not have a pediatric neurologist here in town, they moved him to Houston where there are great doctors and better equipment. They were going to do surgery immediately, but realized that there was too much fluid on his brain to do it right away, so they drained the fluid and proceeded. This is the update our pastor received from his dad:

Dad just called & reported:

Procedure went well. Able to drain blood and release pressure. Going to do arteriogram & check arteries to see where bleeding is coming from. Good movement of arms & legs. Blood pressure good. Has not regained consciousness yet. Doctors said this was probably defect he was born with, nothing recent that would have caused it.

Please pray for Cody. Kids should not have to go through these ordeals. My heart is hurting tonight. I am so stressed and a massage would definitely work out the kinks in my neck. This young man is like one of my kids. I don't necessarily see him all the time, and he and Brenham don't really hang out, but they are in the same confirmation class and they have been going to school together since Kindergarten. He and Brenham are friends, though and Brenham is sad as well.
Praying for Cody...

Oh my goodness! I hope he comes through quickly. How scary for him and his family.
