This lists all 184 names of the victims of the attack.
There are 184 benches that represent each of the victims.
This shows the time and the date of the attack and is carved in the original granite from the Pentagon.
This bench is in memory of the youngest victim of the attack, 3-year-old Dana Falkenberg.
Underneath the bench is an eternity fountain that has a plaque that has the names of her family members who were also on the plane.
This bench is in memory of a service member who was in the Pentagon at the time of the attack. Someone left him a teddy bear.
You see in this picture that the benches are arranged in a way that some of them come out of the ground facing the Pentagon and others face away from the Pentagon. The ones facing toward are in memory of the victims who were on the airplane; the ones facing away were in the Pentagon.
The oldest victim was born in 1930 and was 71-years-old.
And the youngest born in 1998.

I've only seen 1 or 2 professional photographs from far away, so thank you for all the close-ups. It gives me a much better sense of what it must be like to walk through the area. Very moving.
BTW, welcome back! What an ordeal--2 evacuations. Blech.
You walk through and you can just feel the heavy air. And then, when you see the bench that is for an 11-year-old who was on the plane all by himself...
